Hi!
I have used the Chinese cheap CCTV Fujian 35mm f1.7 lens on my NEX-6 and it gave a pretty cool "miniature" effect. Now that I'm on a FF camera, I can't really use it anymore, and I'm looking for something that gives the miniature effect. Is a tilt-shift adapter/lens the only way to go, or are there lens like the Fujian?
Thanks! |

The Fujian 35mm f/1.7 CCTV lens doesn't really produce images with more "tilt/shift" effect than any other fast wide angle lens. Unfortunately fast wide angle lenses such as a 28mm f/2, a 35mm f/1.4, 1.9, etc. are pretty pricey. And a low cost tilt/shift adapter combined with a medium format lens (to cover FF tilted or shifted), or an actual tilt/shift lens could set you back even more. The original cheap alternative, the Lensbaby, is no longer an inexpensive option (although you might find one used for a reasonable price).
Fortunately, you can achieve the effect with just about any lens and photo editing software. There are literally tons of tutorials on-line to get this effect. Just google "tilt shift Photoshop" or whatever post processing software you use, there are tutorials for Photoshop, Elements, Lightroom, Gimp, etc. etc.
Enjoy!

I'm very surprised a CCTV lens has enough coverage to use with a tilt/shift adapter. They usually struggle to cover a 4/3 sensor without any movements.
There are a number of full frame tilt/shift lenses available in SLR mounts. though they are certainly far from cheap!
I've seen instructions on the web to convert a medium format lens to Tilt/shift usage (mainly as classic lensbaby style plunger conversions).
If you want tilt/shift this might be the most affordable route, but just for miniature effect the software approach is much easier. |

I believe the effect you are requiring is known as a "Diorama" _________________ Do not trust Atoms....they make up everything. |

I don't think he means 'tilt/shift miniature' effect, by googling images from this lens I found this topic that also answers the original question I think: http://forum.mflenses.com/in-search-of-swirls-t73192.html _________________ Sony α7, 28-70 | Minolta Rokkor 58 1.2 | CZ 35 2.8, 50 1.7, 135 2.8 | Canon 40D, nFD 20 2.8, 70-210 4, 300 4 L, FD SSC: 24 2.8, 35 2.8 TS, 50 3.5 Macro, 55 1.2 ASPH, 100 2.8, 80-200 4, 200 2.8, 500 8 Reflex | Vivitar S1 90 2.5 | Nikkor 105 1.8 | Takumar 50 1.4, 55 1.8, 135 2.5 & 3.5 | Tair 300 4.5 | ... |
