Two Big news today first one is I finally left the house Smile
The other is a new lens
This lens came from Klaus with the RD 1 and a 4/90 Rokkor (leica CL version)
I don't need to say it but will anyway. Klaus is my hero right now. Thank you very much Klaus it is all just perfect for me.
The lens is a dream lens for a couple of us here and that includes me.
Here are the first to come out of this combo.
It was mid day and pretty intense light. Just a quick walk at the beach.
I'm sorry I have no open aperture shots to present yet.
The RD 1 has a min speed of 200ISO and fastest shutter of 2k.
Most of these are between f4-f8.
I will post some bokeh shots and a comparison to the cv1.4/40 another time.
Again just a simple conversion in Aperture.
I know these will get better. Sorry I want to play with the camera not software right now Cool

Here is a large size of paco to see maybe some better representation of this combo

This is the cameras version of B+W

Just SPECTACULAR

What can I say more? The Biogon 35 is my dream lens
Those who have it, say that it is the best of *all* Zeiss lenses.
I even could read Leica fans (I mean, the "enemy") go mad for this lens.
Every photo I saw from this lens has something special and yours are no exception.
The bokeh you show here is to die for. The fourth photo (the honey coloured dog) shows well the potential.

I am really happy that you have it because that is what every diehard Zeiss fan deserves to have!

One day (one very far day) I will have it too. Even if that will mean to sell half of my collection! Laughing

This Biogon 35mm lens has a very nice bokeh, I am very impressed, since
that lens is reputed as very sharp across the entire frame and no other
thing I have heard or read. Confused

Andy, you live much closer to Canada than I thought.

Orio, Biogon 25/2.8ZM is also a nice lens though.

I am sure of that, is there any Biogon lens that is not nice? Wink

However the Biogon 35 has also a "history" and it's a focal lenght that is more useful for me, because I can do almost everything with it.

Well of course on crop camera 25mm would be better... but... I will never be able to afford a digital rangefinder, so when I will buy this lens, it will be for use with a normal film camera.

Thanks Guys
Orio I put a large Jpeg of Paco (the little dog) Hopefully you got a chance to see it.
This is a super combo. I only wish the sesor in the R D1 was a bit more up to date (6MP, no low ISO and poor high ISO)
It will do for most situations and the Reflex or filmies can pick up the ball for the rest.

I LOVE THIS LENS

I did an ebay search Orio. There was one like new for around $650 with the hood. Prices will come down like everything.
You could sell me your spare hollywood and get one Wink

@ Koji
Yes I am just a 1 1/2 hrs drive from Vancuver and a 40min ferry ride from Victoria. My house is actually only 30 straight line miles from the Canadian border. We prefer Vancuver as our "city" for shopping etc. over Seattle which is the same travel time.

I did. Absolutely amazing. Sharp as hell in the focus and smooth as butter in the OOF.

I don't know if prices will really come down for this lens. It's not as popular as reflex lenses, and people who bought it did it awarely and are probably not going to sell it except for rare cases.
However the problem is not only the price of the lens but the fact that I would have to spend just as much to get a good camera to use it with.

Laughing That would be a bad deal for both, you would overpay a Hollywood and I would lose one of my most loved lenses Wink

The large version of Paco is just stunning.

Good to see your wife shooting, makes buying new kit easier. Just say you got it for her and then lock it away!

Hi Mike
Yes it can be fun to shoot with the ball and the chain also.
She does take all the good gear for herself.
You can see the Contax 35-135 on the 40D (hers now).
I had to lock up the helios 40. The young lady is a bit rough with things at times.
She loves that Helios and I don't want accidents

Embarassed

Here is a quick add on. Shot in the shade of nothing really.
This is the minimum focus distance of the lens and shot wide open. Very nice separation from the background aye?
I'll add some nice stuff as it comes up.

I don't find the investment high for such result
I envy you sunshine!

Amazing! Simply amazing!!

What an excellent combo! I am happy that you have it, because this will give us all the chance to see some shots with it. Wink

Congratulations, Andy!

You are playing in a big league with that thing !

The Paco shot is perfect as can be for a doggy portrait, and the background can't be beat.

Thats a great place to live, lots of spectacular places nearby.

Wonderful lense Andy, as well as your use of it.

The shot of Paco is really nice (time to trim toe nails). Excellent detail.

Andy

Congratulations on both scores. What a wonderful way to celebrate going back outside. The lens is clearly the stuff legends are made of
