I don't like that lens very much.

The 7° element improve a lot the IQ of the 1,4 lenses.

But I like your pics a lot.

Another case of better fotographer than lens.

5 nearly does it for me, 7 I quite like. The bokeh is too dominant for my taste and those two pictures are the nearest to my liking - but - the sharpness is there, I like the colours and the 3D pop is dramatic in a few pictures. I like Rokkors a lot, and I wouldn't dismiss this lens, but I think I would be using at least one stop closed.

Your shots and sharpness are great, but that bokeh is a little too crazy for me...not creamy enough. I imagine it might work well for backgrounds with light sources such as street lights etc.

Thank you gentlemen,much appreciated.I agree it would look better 1or2 stops more but I am trying all my f1.4 lenses for sharpness and contrast wide open.

After comparing the Minolta 58/1.4 vs Konica 57/1.4 I thought that Konica is technically better (+ has much closer Minimal focal distance), but looking at the pics now there is more magic to the minolta : I think bokeh is better for sure , if I remember both versions of 58/1.4 having great build quality (such a nice cold feeling of metal bulid-similar to Taks) Hmmm

The bokeh in these images is artificially exaggerated through PP. I have never produced shots remotely like these with my Minolta, nor would I want to try. Some people apparently like this look, I'm not in that camp (no offence to the people who like this look, it is my preference). If you prefer this "magic" I can see how with some PP tweaking you could easily get the same look with what you've shot with the Konica.

I never do any heavy PP on my images posted on this forum (apart cropping and very rarely adjusting brightness/levels)
Wink

Quite a few very nice images in this thread - well done.
Radissimo, are these taken with the Konica or the Minolta - I am confused.
Thanks
Tom

The author says that there is no PP. Nevertheless I would like to know what do you mean . Hiow can I influence ( "exagerate") the bokeh in PP.

@Oldhand

sorry for confusion, these are Minoltas (as per the thread title). I have the SAME pics taken with hexanon 57/1.4 as well though...
