i need some info on this.
My guess would be a projection lens.
Found a couple of references for a 75mm and a 90mm but nothing on this 80mm. Confused
I know its dirty, I haven't bothered cleaning it yet Razz

I think so. It is a pretty expensive projection lens with four elements.

Here is one modified with aperture to Leica M mount.
Click here to see on Ebay

It is just the name that makes it expensive I'd say Wink

It doesn't look clear to me, so I hope it can be cleaned off (but unfortunately it might be inside and often cannot be cleaned as it is bunrt in from use with stzrong projection lamps. The coating looks damaged too)

Try it out and show some images here please ....

That price in that listing is crazy!

The glass is actually pretty clear, it has light scratches and dirt/oily smudges at the front which I think might clean up ok-ish
I would love to use this but not sure how yet
The easiest way would be to tape it on a bellows but i find that very unhandy
I have no experience with projection lenses on my nex
Would something like this work as well:

Does a similar one exist with a built in aparture?
Or in combination with this

Confused

Hi Karen,
I have no experience with these helicoids, but for trying out lenses' IQ, first look here, what I did the cheapish way with my leitz colorplan 90/2.5:

Kind regards

For the aperture control there are a number of EOS to NEX adapters on the market that include an aperture in the adapter. You won't know from the adapter what f-stop you are at but you can control the light.

A Chinese firm named Yeenon makes a range of helicoid adapters to work with many mounts. Here is one example:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/M42-M39X11-5mm-Helicoid-tube-M39-L39-EOS-M-Mount-Flange-/251930679894?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3aa83d1a56

Of course you will have to determine what the correct back-flange distance is for your lens and assemble a unit that provides the correct distance when the lens is mounted.
