Orio's Tessar photos have been really impressive, and I decided to try
another round with the Russian Tessar copy:

View behind my house, the back acreage:

A view to the left of the road in front:

an irate cat, since I'm not paying enough attention to him:

I found one image that was shot better, and reworked these as I didn't like the frames.

All 3 are fantastic!!!
#2 has a special feeling...

And, I am happy to have been of inspiration for such great photos!

Thanks, Orio! Smile I was quite surprised the little lens didn't flare more than
it did in the second pic, no filters or hood were used! I still can't get over
what little gems these ultra-cheap lenses are! Cool

BTW, very nice avatar, Orio! Wink

Wow, Bill, colours are superb!. Love the first one because that, and the second one as well because the nice composition and the orange flood. Really nice all threee!.

Thanks for sharing, this remind me to use the Industar more often!.

Jes.

Thanks, Jes, I find this lens amazing for its being tiny, and a misguided
perception that it won't perform as well as a much larger lens!

Bill
I was introduced to this lens by the same culprit! It's a really amazing performer and I especially like its colours. Your samples show its strengths perfectly

Excellent shoots Bill, nice campaign for this little one.

Patrick, Orio the Culprit has been the instigator of several lens' purchases!
I think this was the lowest in cost, though! Wink

Patrick and Attila, thanks for your comments. Smile Attila, have to admit, I
was surprised by its performance yesterday.

I really like these last ones Bill!

Every post on this board causes me to look into getting a new lens. Have a new one on the way Europe.

Thanks, Mike, so you have an Industar 50-2 on its way? They go for really
cheap. Here's a couple craptacular pics taken with an Agfa ePhoto 1680
I just sold to certo6, nice blue channel noise and only 1.2MP.

This is how it looks on an Oly e300, makes it look like a point and shoot!

No not an Industar, although I have been trying to get one (for some reason this is one lens that I have been trying to get really cheap and won't go higher).

Here is a hint: Ron has this lens!

PostPosted: Sun May 11, 2008 5:49 pm    Post subject: Reply with quote

Very good hint, Mike, since Ron only has one MF lens. Laughing

Those are some really nice photos. That is a small lens.

Michael, in case you haven't tried this yet, often the cheapest way to buy an Industar 50 (or a Helios 44 etc) is to look for an old Zenit camera. An all-countries search for Zenit will find hundreds of them. If you're really lucky you might be able to sell the camera and end up with a free lens. Smile

Don't copy me Mike, I'll come find you. LOL.

Thanks Peter, thats how I have acquired a lot of my equipment. Out of curiosity, is one model of Zenit more desirable than another?

Ron, I have nearly 80 lenses now. I couldn't stand not having a copy of the one MF lens that you own. Laughing

Here's a couple more shot late this afternoon using the shortest Zeiss
extension tube with the Industar 50-2. Should've used a tripod, especially
on the second shot (1/30sec) but am still quite impressed with the colors:

How do you do it Bill? You must live on e-bay. You keep coming up with these nice lenses and you pay nothing for them.

80 lenses? Am I wrong that you just started collecting these. I think it is great that you got all these lenses Mike, but their is a whole world out their.
As soon as you recover from the back surgery you need to get outdoors.

I've been lucky on some of my ebay purchases, maybe not compared to
Patrick, Orio, or Mike, but lucky enough for me! Laughing
