I tested my Viv 85/1.8 outside for the first time. The lens has very nice bokeh, still OFF highlights and at f/4 or f/5.6 is very sharp:
All pictures can be enlarged to full resolution:
f/1.8
f/2.8
f/4
f/5.6
f/8
f/8
f/4
wide-open vivitar + direct sunlight = very strong saturation (saturation was not boosted during RAW conversion):
f/1.8
Moon at f/1.8
Moon at f/8
f/8

This looks an impressive lens.
DOF looks razor thin on the 1st image. The images look very crisp.
Can I ask what the price was? _________________ Casual attendance these days |

Hi. I have 2 of them. The first one was not functional, so it was quite cheap. Now it's in working condition. I bought the second one for about €110 with 2 worthless lenses. I'd like to sell one of the Vivitars for about €95. _________________ (almost) complete list of Helios lenses |

It's T/T2 with T2->M42 adapter included. But the lens is reserved by member shad309 at the moment. _________________ (almost) complete list of Helios lenses |

Nope, not Series 1, this is one of the earliest Vivitar branded lenses from the 1960's.
One of the original preset lens series.
I had one myself. It has the distinctive aperture blades with the bent edges. _________________ I like Pentax DSLR's, Exaktas, M42 bodies of all kinds, strange and cheap Japanese lenses, and am dabbling in medium format/Speed Graphic work. |
