What a splendid lens this has turned out to be.
The few reviews that I was able to find gave it a thumbs up and it took a long time to find one.
I am delighted with its performance.
Shot on Fuji as .jpg in Velvia simulation - so the colours are rich.

Beautifull ,is it 6blades iris?

Thank you uddhava and kiddo
Yes, six blade iris.
It is a joy to use and the soft out of focus bokeh is very pleasant.
See the last picture above.
Here is another shot to show this.

Here are some images of the lens itself.
The most notable thing about it is the size of the rear element.
Compared to other 55mm f1.4 lenses it is huge

I somewhat regret that I sold the lens. On the full frame, however, I did not see what it looks like.

I wish Fuji would put a full frame sensor in that body. I think they would sell a billion of them..... I just cant get excited about a 1.5 crop factor....

Is that a petri mount custom made adapter ? Adapted to a helicoid ?

PostPosted: Thu Jun 03, 2021 8:27 pm    Post subject: Reply with quote

That's a very attractive demonstration, Tom! Your shots show well tender skin rendering and smooth OOF. It comes in terms with the Petri 1.7/55 character.

Thanks fellas.
I had been shooting the Petri CC Auto 55mm f1.8 for some time, and it is a very impressive lens. It was the results from it that motivated me to look for the 1.4/55

Yes, I took an Exakta mount adapter for Fuji (It was non-functioning as the locking lever had been badly made) and my friend put it on his lathe to reduce the registration distance. The mount came from a Petri teleconverter, but could just as easily have come from the front of a Petri bayonet camera. (The Petri cameras that I have seen have all been dead).
The lenses on the other hand in the Petri bayonet mount are very good.
There is no helicoid except in the lens itself.
Since I made it I have found Petri to Fuji adapters on ebay, but they are a bit pricey.

Interestingly, when I was searching the net for references to the Petri CC Auto 55mm f1.4, your image keep appearing from Flickr.
There was very little else about it, but I did find an excellent review and reference here:

It may be in Japanese, but Google will translate it for you

This is one of my very favorite lenses, I sold the first one I had with the camera, and regretted it, but I now have another. For some reason I haven't used it much on the A7II but I had some great results on the A6000.
Both of these pic's are pretty well unproccessed, and the green colour of the river is very accurate, it's a deep narrow dingle and all the sunlight filters through the tree canopy. Which I think shows the strong point of this lens, the colour rendition is excellent.

The rendering of green tones is very nice.

Also very smooth bokeh.

Yes it does green rather well. All colours seem clean to me.
Here are a few from this morning - quick snaps in .jpg - Velia simulation on Fuji

Thank you - it is a good lens.
I mentioned the size of the rear element.
Here is a picture showing it with two other 55mm f1.4's and next to the Minolta 58mm f1.4 - which is on its right.
The Petri is the third lens along

This one is a variety of geranium.
I'm not sure which one

I found some more. As far as I remember, I did not really like it after xf 56 Smile (Noticeable software on the open)

Oldhand.

The #3 is a very well made portrait to my eyes.

Nice lens that remind me some characteristics of the Hexanon 57/1,4.
