I've always wanted to get the Tair11A but the local seller we have over here doesn't have them. How does the Tair11A compare with the Jupiter 37A? |

The Tair 11A gives more pop to the images and feels more "industrial" like it was made for people working underground in a mine!
If you can get a Jupter 37, try to get the MC version. Otherwise I found the Jupiter 11A to be better and is cheaper I think

Does the Tair have the Sonnar design like the Jupiters?
Seems like the Jupiter 37 and the Jupiter 11A are very close. |

Depend what you like on bokeh it is very subjective, Trioplan 100 was last lens in Europe what people willing to use , now one of the sought after after people in Asia (bokeh experts) did show how can we use it properly. I was very satisfied with Tair11 A quality from every aspects, I like a lot Takumar 200mm f4 too, my Takumar 200mm f3.5 heavily fungused, crappy so I can't compare it. _________________ -------------------------------

135, best is Tair 11A. not only compared to Soviet lenses, against Zeiss 135/2,8 some say it;s better some say same not. In bokeh term, it's better.
11A is 135mm while Tair 11 is 133mm (older)
200mm- Jupiter 200/4
300/4,3 Tair
which focal lenght do you prefer? _________________ nex5, Olympus EPM1, yashica half 14, Canon eos 650 want to see samples of mine? please click My lenses

Jupiter 37A is sharper, if you get the MC it will be more contrasty than the tair. BUT 11 and 11A gives this unique defocus - very smooth and pops up the object on focus very good.
You can find here in this forum samples with many 135 in one big test on 5DmkII. There are big size samples...
For me the Jupiter 37A MC is the better Sonnar 135 3.5 MC, but the Tair 11 - it is something special. _________________ 10-300мм 4.0 - 1.2 - 4.5 NIKON&Sony bodies / Sony 10-18, Pentax 28 2.8 II, CZJ 35 2.4, Nikkor DX 35 1.8, Samyang 35 1.4, KMZ 50 1.7, FDn 50 1.2 L, Nikkor 55 2.8, Rokkor 58 1.2, Soligor 85 1.8 Preset, Samyang 85 1.4, Canon FDn 85 1.2 L, Tokina AT-X 90 2.5, Canon FDn 135mm 2.0, Nikkor 180 2.8 ED, Tair 300 4.5

I have MC-MTO-11 F10/1000mm Catadiptric lens. A bit better than cheap ebay mirror lens, but nothing spectacular or worth investing to. _________________ I have nothing to compensate with lens |

They are often slightly misaligned (in this case not a quality control issue, many mirror lenses have this problem, especially when they have large physical apertures). But especially the MTO1000 is optically very good if you find a good copy or repaired one with "relaxed mirror". There are some tuning instuctions on the web I think, mostly by people who modified it for astro work. Center-resolution can be increased by removing an build-in teleconverter/corrector btw.. but corners get worse on FF but not a big problem for crop sensors. _________________ I'm not a collector, I'm a tester
