Got a pic of it? If it's long, black, and heavy -- comes apart in the middle, has a gun sight, and is a T-mount, it was probably built in the 1970s, maybe by Tokina.

If it looks like what I'm describing, there was a series of lenses built on the basic plan -- 400mm, 600mm and 800mm. Typically it would come in a case, with the two halves stored side-by-side. I've owned a couple. Using them with a film camera, the results were just okay. But I've seen digital photos taken with some versions that were actually pretty good.

If it's fairly light and compact, is a preset T-mount lens, and does not break apart, it might be one of the cheap t-mount telephotos that many camera stores have sold for cheap from the 70s forward to the present day. Here's a link to a 500mm in that genra at Adorama:

If you have a pic, it will really help. There was a thread here at mflenses on the ones I'm referring to a few years ago. Boomer Depp supplied a photo of his collection. So if yours looks like these, that should help. Typically you see these as Vivitars (made by Tokina) but I've seen them as Soligor and other brands. Scroll about halfway down to see the photo of Boomer's lenses:

ProSpec is a trademark used J.C.Penny. I have see some of its manual zoom are made in Korea. Without a photo, it is not able to tell who makes the lens you are referring to.
