As wonderful as the scenery is, there must be sth wrong with your whitebalance - I see a strong greenish cast all over and further the colors look rather dull, very unusual when using a Lumix G1. All right with the setup??

It was very cloudy/overcast & the WB was set to cloudy. The bottom sides of the wings are very dull compared to the tops & you are mostly seeing bottoms.

We have lived here for 36 years & never seen this before. So I doubt we are on the normal migration path. There were groups like this in several different trees but this was the easiest to shoot.

Images posted here look quite good.

Can anybody else here comment on this lens? Is it a good lens?

there are several versions of this lens from different manufacturers. first 2 have max aperture 3.5, later versions are f2.8-4.
versions that have f3.5 are made by Kiron (v1) and Tokina (v2). original poster didn't say which version is his.
Kiron version, along with 3rd version made by Komine are the best ones.

Yes it is a great lens. It's one of the few manual zoom lens that I have. Both pictures were shot using the lens. I have two copies.

it's nice to see those gorgeous images again. And I agree that there are great Series 1 70-210 lenses. I have 2 of them - M42 and Canon FD - but I don't use them as much as I should, they are a bit on the big and heavy side, but aside from that they are very good.

Thanks for posting a picture Jarrett.

The one I am looking has has the blue VMC but it's different width. Filters size is 62mm not 67mm.

That picture was taken with that lens also.

Go here for more info on the lens. http://www.robertstech.com/vivitar.htm

Tokina, Komine, and Cosina versions all have 62mm filters.
