New WTC Spire above the clouds by Nesster, on Flickr
The day before they officially put up the new spire. This is with a SMC Pentax-A 645 75mm f/2.8 lens, Rainbowimaging 645/K adapter. Good lens on 135. Also, first time since 1976 I used Perceptol/Microdol -- back then I felt grain was the enemy with the Pen FT 1/2 frame. _________________ -Jussi

I'd heard Delta 400 was supposed to have very little grain. I quite like the grain here though. Adds some texture. _________________ If you have time, please check out my photography blog from Japan. http://monkeybrainsushi.wordpress.com/ |

That's what I love about film. With digital it would be too perfect. Nice horizontal layers. _________________ Lots of 35mm Film Cameras

Excellent. I absolutely swear by Microdol, it really does give a wider tonal range and you can see it here. _________________ I don't care who designed it, who made it or what country it comes from - I just enjoy using it! |

That's just the thing - I don't recall going with lower EI on the films back in the day, I shot at box speed. But the modern instructions are to shoot at reduced film speed. I just read a couple of articles from the 70s which pointed out the approach I used to take: Shoot at box speed, then give a couple of minutes less development at 1:3 dilution. Now that sounds more like what I used to do.
Unfortunately all my negatives from the 70s are lost, I'd left them in a college darkroom which got demolished over a summer break. _________________ -Jussi

The Barry Thornton method is to shoot at half box speed then develop in 1:3 microdol-x, cutting dev time by 20%. It's what I do for most films and really does work well, you get more shadow and highlight detail. _________________ I don't care who designed it, who made it or what country it comes from - I just enjoy using it! |
