About 8 portait shots stitched in the free autostitch software. I didn't bother correcting the verticals although I think they're just about OK.

Was that central white part there when I visited the museum in 1998?

I'm not sure of the exact chronology but it was probably being built around that time. It's the old British Museum Reading room, as frequented by Marx, Lenin and others. An outer skin was added, presumably to reinforce the structure and to support the glass roof. The books were moved and the interior was refurbished. It's now used as an exhibition space.
