I've always wanted one of these. A beautiful lens that produces beautiful results. A big shame they didn't make them longer. Although the color-ultron is also very good (but a lot less stylish). |

Ups, does this version have a concave front element? I''ve never seen that.
I it's also one of the Zeiss-designed Planar-type 50/1.8 lens which comes with many different names Voigtländer/Rollei/Zeiss - Color-Ultron/Opton/Ultron/Planar/Ifbagon - HFT/T*/MC, all produced in West Germany and some also under license Singapore by Rollei - in many differents mounts - and optically all identical.
I had a few different copies, all optically identical and very decent, imho nice bokeh, very good colors, good clarity and contrast, very sharp - almost perfect except some blueish/purple CAs wide open. _________________ I'm not a collector, I'm a tester

Here's a little thread on it I wrote a while back.

This Ultron is different to all the others. It is the oldest of the bunch and also the most sought after. This old lens regularly fetches over $500 on the 'bay and I paid quite a bit for mine as well. It's rendition is indeed very special with very clear colours and often a 3-d feel that one doesn't expect to see with lenses of that era. |

As I know Ultron is a Voigtlander lens we can see only with Zeiss name due some shared products. Lens is excellent for sure as so many in this focal length and speed. Some got massive fun club some others not. Beautiful pictures for sure, but I saw only beautiful from you with any lens even with ruined J12 So I am pretty sure if you put on a Nikon 50mm f2 which is one of the lowest respect lens we can see very similar amazing images. _________________ -------------------------------
