during a recent visit to Rome I arrived at the Piazza Santa Maria in Trastevere late afternoon on a sunday. There was a manifestation of street artists fighting for their rights, here their facebook site http://www.facebook.com/stradaliberatutti
and a few photos I had taken then:

taken with "Pen-F" lenses on NEX5N, last two obviously at low light with high ISO, #1 to 3 with f1.5/60mm, last with f1.4/40

#1 and #2 are my choices. Really nice street shots.
Is there any corner in the world that you have not visit? Very Happy

haha Hoan, the list of places i don't know and would not only love to visit but be living at for a while.. is very long!

thank you very much everybody for your kind comments!
My favorites are the third and forth too. I am glad that I caught the moment of the girl passing, her expression and balloon on the forth, and the third for being a bit odd..unlikely angle and circumstances to take a photo, but I had felt very attracted to that woman and took the photo anyways Wink

here one more of the performer from the 4th, her movements of her well groomed fingers was very eye catching

Pen-f lenses generally are a bit rare but the f1.4/40mm is regularly available on ebay USA. Even more easy to find is the f1.8/38mm, possibly the f3.5/100mm. The wide angles are not offered that often, the f4/25mm more than f2.8/25 and f3.5/20 but with a bit of patience can be found, so also f4/150mm. There is a pancake f2.8/38mm and a "big body" f2.8/38 which are very rare, so is the f2/70 and the f3.5/38mm Macro which both, I believe, are easiest to be found in the US. The f1.5/60 is very rare and expensive.
The more common Pen-F lenses sell more expensively than comparable SLR lenses but cheaper than comparable RF lenses, e.g. the f1.4/40mm sells for 200 to 250 usd in the USA ( but it rarely appears on ebay Europe )

best greetings,
andreas

I think that the 60 is better than the 40 but I didn't find enough wide open samples

hm..interesting question.
I have not done any formal comparison, but consider the f1.4/40 to be pretty much my sharpest wide open f1.4 lens. However I must consider that my other f1.4 lenses, all being 50mm lenses, have less dof.
Here some wide open samples of the f1.5/60mm will. Most are high ISO and therefore IQ will not be great but I still hope they tell you somethings, all taken in Saigon

so just made a fast series of test shots, including Pen-F 1.4/40 and 1.5/60 on NEX5N
set up certainly won't be to everyone's liking and note that I did NOT change position of camera / objects for different focal lengths

the set up ( camera recently received from member std - Stefan )
#1 the photo is the one taken with the 1.4/40@f1.4 INCL. sharpening after resize

100% crops ( of 16MP sensor )

shot as RAW, conv. by LR3.5 with Auto Tone ( which adjusts exposure incl. blacks )
tried to focus on the f number 2.8 seen right of the red point on the Contax/Kiev mount

#2 1.4/40@f1.4

#3 1.5/60@f1.5

#4 1.4/40@f2.8

#5 1.5/60@f2.8

#6 1.4/40@f5.6

#7 1.5/60@f5.6

actually I also did samples with the same set up and settings, that is wide open, f2.8 and f5.6 with Pen-F 1.8/38, Auto Takumar f2/55, Super Takumar f1.8/55, S-M-C Tak f1.4/50, Nikkor-S f1.4/50, MC-Rokkor-PG f1.4/50 and RE.Auto-Topcor f1.8/58.
Anyone interested tell me what you want to see
