Thanks for the link, very nice reading
The Nokton f/1.1 seems to me the best compromise between bokeh, sharpness and CA control. It is one lens worth thinking about, it also has a nice price.
Too bad the new Z Sonnar 1.5 wasn't in there.

thanks for link, hari

I see that reasonably priced Nokton is really good performer compared to ultra-expensive Leica glass

the conclusion for me is simple - there isn´t as big difference in IQ as in price:) but that is as always

Thanks for the link, bookmarked, save me thousands of dollars Laughing

The Summilux ASPH is great, as expected.

The two Summicron rigid's difference is significant (probably due to different amount of haze)

And v3's drawing is very Zeiss-like, don't you think?

O, and I wonder if there is a similar shootout for 35mm Wink

Edit: Found it:

It indeed is.
True, the new Noctilux 0.95 has the smoothest bokeh (for the fans of that - which does not necessarily cover the whole of us)
but the older Noctiluxes don't, and most importantly,
the Nokton highlights are almost free of green fringing, while there's a festival of that in the Noctiluxes' highlights.
This may not be a concern in controlled lighting situations, but since one assumes that such a super fast lens gets used often in the night
and amongst artificial lights, green fringing of highlights might not remain a secondary issue as it would be in a daylight lens.

nice find, I'd actually looked at that while researching about getting a Leica or not Smile so many lenses!

I think the winner in that shootout is the M9 Smile

You're welcome guys!

Actually, one of the things i love about the Nokton over the Noctilux is the very short focus throw - half a twist and from infinity you're in perfect focus from 1m over the full range and back to infinity!

I find this lens really nice for quick shots

Woww ... the Fujinon 50/1.2 has super smooth bokeh ...

Someone spent a great deal of time and unusual for this type of post he/she actually came up with data good for conclusions. Very nice post!

Choice of subject is also very convenient. I was expecting though that the level of whisky in the bottle would diminish but surprisingly stayed the same throughout the test Laughing Laughing Laughing

Well, I don't know. I have shot with one at the Photokina this year, on my M8, and I was not really impressed.
It is extremely difficult to focus wide open and shows several heavy aberrations at f/1.1.

For a rangefinder I would prefer an f/1.4 or f/1.8 lens. A nice and still compact and affordable 1.8/50 would be fantastic. But such a lens does not exist.

Don't get it wrong Esox ... he refilled the bottle before each shot ... hahaha Smile

Doesn't that only come in Contax mount?
Then you would need the adapter which is really expensive.

BTW, I think that that Jupiter-8 shot was misfocussed.
The J8 is better wide open than this!

selfmade using a broken Kiev as donor will come for under 50.- Wink but it might not be very practical
how about Canon f1.8/50 LTM, great performer and according to ebay completed in the US sold for +/- 100 usd.

Well, maybe in US it's possible to get Canon 1.8/50 LTM under $100. In Germany one went for about 300 Euros just yesterday Wink
