Hello,

I didn't know that that lens were made witj M42 mount (the Prakticar brand was mostly used for the bayonet lenses) but only B bayonet (and that too is very rare): http://www.praktica-users.com/lens/blenses/czjp2.8_200.html
http://www.pbase.com/kkawakami/200mmf28
In M42 there is the CZJ Sonnar 200mm f:2.8 : http://m42.artlimited.net/lens_detail.php?lid=48

No, this is a 200mm Prakticar from Carl Zeiss Jena (East-Germany), but my Lens is Made in Japan and a "electric" with 3 Pins for forwarding the Aperture-Data to the Camera.

The second from left, this is my 200mm Lens.

Isn't it a B mount lens ?

http://cgi.ebay.de/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=230209307033

To make it clear:

Carl Zeiss Jena and Pentacon made Prakticar lenses with Praktica-B bajonet mount. These lenses made in DDR and some of them made in Japan.

What we talk about now, PRAKTICAR labeled lenses with M42 mount made in Japan and not related at all to East-Germany! Like Exakta (Japanese lenses) are not related to Exakta cameras and Japanese Helios not related to Russian lenses.

Well, seeing the lens from that ebay auction it might be in fat a rebranded Sigma YS lens (YS line lenses). I just suppose so because the font, the mount meterial, and the barell design looks similar with this 100mm Sigma: http://photo.net/bboard-uploads/00JK59-34189984.jpg

There was another line too of Sigma lenses, called XQ.

Confused Hmmm, i think the 200mm MF-Lens is not so bad. The Kit-Zoom-Lens SAL75300 is a more badly. Are there more opinions?

Uwe - It's far from awful - there's no obvious pincushion distortion and fringeing is relatively minor, but is apparant. It doesn't seem to resolve much detail and lacks contrast. Looking at the full size shots it doesn't look like camera shake is the problem, it looks like it's the lens. It's just not that sharp and doesnt have stunning out of focus rendering to make up for it.
