I've never seen a 50mm+ lens with strong distortion.
Have you ever seen any non-wideangle lens where it's really distracting under field conditions? _________________ I'm not a collector, I'm a tester

Early versions of the Nikkor 43-86 were delightfully bad. |

When creative a photographic archive of some of my mother's paintings, in the past, I had available the Nikkor AF 1.8/50 and the Micro Nikkor 2.8/60.
Due to the nature of the lens, I expected the Micro Nikkor to have the less distortion, but I found it wasn't true, and ended up using
the 1.8/50 exclusively.
Speaking generally, I would say that a lot of zooms feature more distortion than average prime wide angle lenses. _________________ Orio, Administrator

I had an Edixa-Cassaron that showed noticeable pincushion distortion. Probably not noticeable in most scenes but if you had a straight line running near the edge of the frame you'd definitely notice it. Not one of Steinheil's finest moments. |

Need to check my 50mm Fujian. If their 25mm lens is anything to go by, then it should be a distortion paradise. _________________ Many lenses and some film bodies for sale here: http://forum.mflenses.com/canon-fd-minolta-md-c-mounts-m42-pentax-and-more-t50465.html

Most cheap zooms, particularly long ones have pretty noticeable pincushion distortion at the long end. _________________ I don't care who designed it, who made it or what country it comes from - I just enjoy using it! |
