Thanks to a very kind friend, I have been able to play with this pair of scanners. They are for 35mm only, and the hardware of the two seems identical, just the 7600i is an older model. 8200i comes with Silverfast v8, 7600i with v6.6. Both work the same, there is a 6-shot strip holder you slide in one side and out the other, moving it one position after each frame is scanned. I only tried at 2400dpi and 3200dpi but the result with a simple C41 negative developed at my local Asda is fantastic, far better than my old Epson 3200 flatbed and better than I expected to be able to obtain from 35mm. Auto focus and auto exposure on both scanners works perfectly, every scan came out great, I tried BW and C41 negatives. Seems to struggle a bit with the very dense Kodak Vision2 films developed in Fomapan, but that might be cured with tweaking the settings.

Anyways, my opinion of these scanners is very high, and I would recommend them for 35mm scanning.

3200dpi scan of C41 developed at Asda. Zorki 6 with 1966 I-50 rigid, not sure what the film was, I think Fujicolor 200.

Cheers. The little Industar is a very sharp lens, so it's nice to be able to scan negatives with sufficient quality to see the sharpness! Wink

Results are decent indeed. How long does it take to digitalize 1 negative with that scanner?

Not long, seconds rather than mins.

Ian, is this scanner yours? Or are you saving for the medium format Plustek that does both 120
and 35mm?

Nice results!

The 7600i is now mine. I didn't know there was a plustek that does MF as well. Would love one of those if it can do 6x9.

It does up to 6x12, for the princely sum of L1999 for you Brits. Smile

Congrats for the scanner Ian.
I'm interested on how good does it scan slides compared to flatbed Epson.
How long does it takes for example a scan of 2400 dpi and does it have better dynamic range and sharpness.

I'm hoping the prices will go down a little next year, Orio. I find it encouraging that two companies now
make a good dual format scanner since Nikon folded shop on the 9000 series, no longer repairs them, etc.

Wow ! I didn't knew about this . Reflecta makes very good scanners .I wanted a proscan 7200 or a RPS 7200 , but was too costly for me , so I ended up with a Minolta Dimage III(for 1/6 the price). Cool

I need to put some better quality film through this scanner as the diy c41 and e6 in c41 rolls I shot came out not so great due to the shitty room temp c41 kit I use to process them, but the scanner seems to do a good job:

Sadly the 7600i doesn't scan the Kodak Vision2 movie films very well, the results are grainy, too bright and low in contrast, and playing with the settings in Silverfast doesn't improve quality. I think the issue is the lamp in this scanner isn't bright enough to cope with the dense material. After PP to reduce the grain and fix the brightness/contrast results are barely acceptable. I guess I'll have to scan the Kodak Vision2 films on my old Epson.

These were with Kodak Vision2 100T developed in Fomapan LQN. Kiev II with Helios-103:
