I've never seen a 50mm+ lens with strong distortion.
Have you ever seen any non-wideangle lens where it's really distracting under field conditions?

Early versions of the Nikkor 43-86 were delightfully bad.

When creative a photographic archive of some of my mother's paintings, in the past, I had available the Nikkor AF 1.8/50 and the Micro Nikkor 2.8/60.
Due to the nature of the lens, I expected the Micro Nikkor to have the less distortion, but I found it wasn't true, and ended up using
the 1.8/50 exclusively.

Speaking generally, I would say that a lot of zooms feature more distortion than average prime wide angle lenses.

I had an Edixa-Cassaron that showed noticeable pincushion distortion. Probably not noticeable in most scenes but if you had a straight line running near the edge of the frame you'd definitely notice it. Not one of Steinheil's finest moments.

Need to check my 50mm Fujian. If their 25mm lens is anything to go by, then it should be a distortion paradise.

Most cheap zooms, particularly long ones have pretty noticeable pincushion distortion at the long end.
