This morning i've received the Orestegor i won on eBay last week.

blades are wonderfull

but it seems i am not a lucky guy with 200mm f4 lenses Sad

The Orestegor seems to have a problem with its back lens.

it looks like the lens had a coating that part has gone ?!?

I will try to take some pictures later to show you.

in the case, the lens had a coating, and this coating is damaged, is there a solution to remove the coating ?

the "coating" seems to be blue/purple.

You'll probably find a partly worn coating makes little difference to the photos under most conditions.

Wow... it has been cleaned to death !

Maybe a strong solvent could help tio finish the job.

I think pentacon and Orestegor are same lenses. Just interchange the back element...

I removed the front coating (by accident) on a jupiter 37A using Eclipse fluid and a pec pad, it just dissolved it!

Yes, I warned people many times about the damageable coating of Jupiter-37, I'm sorry you didn't read my warnings.

Take extreme care when cleaning J-37 glass!

Pec-pad are lint free cloths and Eclipse 1 is a cleaning fluid for lens glasses (Eclipse 2 is for sensors).
Make searched in Ebay, you will find both. Find a seller that sells both you will save in shipping charges.

I think this is not fixable I found on some DDR lenses what I have, only on latest ones MC versions. Not impact picture quality or not much. Don't worry about that try it instead than try to fix it.

Coating marks should put off collectors but not users if the price is right!

This is a very interesting thread. Looking at the picture of the lens with the damaged coating, one could be forgiven for thinking it would have quite a big detrimental effect on a shot taken through it. I have a Vega-12B with badly damaged coating, which I never use for that reason. The different colours of the coatings on Chris Seymore's Nikon lenses in another thread also fascinated me.

I realised I knew very little about this subject, and a quick Google took me to Rick Oleson's site, which has a brilliant article about it:
http://rick_oleson.tripod.com/index-166.html

In a nutshell, a lens coating is completely colourless and transparent. We can see it with our eyes only because of the interference to the wave of the reflected light caused by the two surfaces - the coating surface and the glass surface below it - which creates Iridescence, like on the surface of a soap bubble.

The light that is not reflected, which passes through the lens to create the picture, is not affected in any way by the iridescence. The only difference the damage to the coating on the front surface can make is to very marginally increase the amount of light reflected from it, which reduces the light actually passing through the lens.

Great - I'm going to start using my Vega-12 again! Very Happy
