I obtained one of this babies upon that camera for $120. However the camera is in the very pitifull condition, and without any accessories. So, I took it exclusively for the lens.

However the lens also has some scratches upon the front element. The rear one I OK.

The shutter is in so-so condition. Needs cleaning, however it still works.

I am going to try it upon medium format Kiev6c for the portrays. However, it will be little too long, I think. Especially to use only the one element.

PS I still wonder very much way it is so expensive. Really is it so rare?

I think so rare right , especially in good condition. I look forward your samples, but I not expect much , large format itself help to lens.
My guess lens will be average on KIEV 60, well who knows ?

I started to think concerning the large format camera, after I obtained also the second Protar lens in much better condition not so long ago (for $50). Looks like it will be the wide lens for the large format camera.

Large format is expensive and time required hobby , but perhaps provide awesome quality. I bough all stuff even film in my fridge, but still didn't try it Sad

Large format can be quite cheap, depending on what you do.

Simple 4x5 view cameras can go for as little as $100

Old plate cameras (9x12) even less.

13.5cm lenses (normal for 4x5) in old Compur shutters are quite cheap.

Film is expensive but it takes so long to shoot that you will probably use little of it.

Even cheaper - photo paper !

Also - $50 for a Protar is amazing.
