I'm reading conflicting info on this design. Is it a triplet, Tessar, or a Heliar?
Industar 22 is supposed to be a clone, which is a Tessar. The 3.5/50 on the old
Argus cams(Cintar) is a Cooke triplet. |

The statement that the Elmar is not a Tessar because it's a triplet derivation, is misleading: the Tessar, too, is a Cooke Triplet's derivation.
And the succession line Cooke's Triplet->Tessar->Elmar is pretty much consolidated in the photography history books. _________________ Orio, Administrator

I think so, but 28mm on half frame so rather ~40-50mm on 35mm plus hasle with converting, better to take J8. _________________ -------------------------------
