In spite of all our present troubles (the crisis, the earthquakes), Emilia can still face life with a smile Very Happy
I don't know the real name of this girl, but for me, she's called Emilia now Smile

Thanks SonicScot Smile I have been very lucky with children photos this last weekend. Smile
The position and the smile are not casual though: I choosed the shooting position carefully, to take backlight portraits
(I am loving backlight portraits lately) and I waved an hello for that smile.
It wasn't hard though: she smiled to everyone! Very Happy She'll become a very social adult for sure.

Thanks Tony. Yes, backlight is magic if you nail the exposure (with film this was a classic situation for bracketing, with digital thanks to RAW's latitude it is possible to get away with one shot
if your exposure is decently correct. Surely you can't recover a wrong exposure as you would in frontal light shots because the difference in dynamic range
between highlight and shadow exceeds the 3 stops). With children portraits you can't go wrong with smoothness, no need for Portrait Professional with them Wink
The best thing for a portraitist is that childrens' skin takes even the hardest and most directional of lights and still looks good. You just can't do that with adults without tricks, not even with young adults.

IMHO this is even better than the Soap Bubbles image. Shocked Beautifully done, and the inclusion of the part of the boy's
face on the left adds an element of congruency to the subject. This is a true 'artist's picture'.
