I got this 49mm adapter off ebay for $15 which is a lot cheaper than
most of the hoods I see for Bay 1:







Miraculously, the hood doesn't get in the way of the viewing lens, looking
through the screen.

Pics hurriedly taken with Canon G1.

Smart solution!
Have you checked about possible vignetting? The hood seems quite long.

Good point, I have several of these 49mm hoods, I could saw off a
portion of this if it's too long.
