Pentax Monochrome... ;)

With all this talk about the Leica Monochrome and the vintage B&W setting on the colour M9 and M8 it got me thinking can I do this type of thing on my digitals?

I just thought I might share with you a quick few snap shots I took while messing around, the full series is on my blog.
These were shot on my Pentax KX using my Pentax SMC F 35-135mm macro zoom setting the camera to black and white and I adjusted the tint setting. I like that slightly aged look to it.

The great thing is the Pentax lets me shoot these B&W and in RAW. So I discovered I can adjust the tint in the camera after I take the shot.
I'm actually unsure now which I prefer the slightly aged look or the more traditional B&W look, what do you guys think?

+1

and, digital "aged" looks... well, digital... to me (I'm speaking generally). Too uniform, too monochord... real prints don't age that way.
So if I have to choose, I choose normal grayscale.

Seriously , even if digital is better 1000x we are responsible now , film technology will dead or not. If we not support now film our kids has no chance to shoot anymore on film. What will happen with film in our hands, we should left at least b&w exclusively to film.

Ahh guys, you know I shoot heaps of film... I post a bunch of my shots here. If you've read my blog you would know I avidly promote the shooting of film. You would have also scene my recent posts here about how I have over 274 roll either in my fridge or in transit too me right now.
This was an experiment playing with my Pentax to see if I could achieve a similar look to the images that I have seen from the Hyped Monochrom is right now. Or even the 'Vintage B&W' setting from the M9 or M8. I was never trying to emulate film.
Cheers for feeling the need to somehow take away from the purpose of my post... Sad
This was meant to be a fun post.

I know sure and respect you very well, but readers mostly not, this is reason why I did explain my opinion more in details.

Yeah maybe, but it sounds like you guys were having a go at me for trying to have a little fun with my digital.
This was in relation to your and orios comments about 'using the tools you have' in the leica monochrome thread.
That is why I was trying to replicate that look in camera.
When I want to shoot b&w film, I load a roll and go shoot it.
But this is not what I was trying to do here...

? ? ?
YOU asked a question:

Quote:
I'm actually unsure now which I prefer the slightly aged look or the more traditional B&W look, what do you guys think?

And I replied, that I prefer normal grayscale to digital pseudo-aged.
That's all I said !!!!!

Haha, you +1 atilla's buy a roll of film comment.
It makes me think you were both telling me to shoot film. So I did not notice you were actually telling me which you prefer. Sorry for miss-understanding.

Ok, look I'm sorry.
Gee's, I tryed to post a fun topic before I went to bed last night...and I wake up to 3 comments, the first saying buy film.
It just looked like you were having a go. As it was not the kind od respoces I was expecting. I thought you might have understood I was javing a little joke with the monochrom hype that is everywhere at the moment.
I've said sorry.
I'm now sorry I tried to contribute. Gees.

Look, I think you have been over-sensitive about nothing. Attila's comment was light-hearted, and I replied to that in the same sense.
I'm sorry if I wasn't clear, I probably should have added a smiley too, in any way for sure this is the last time that I will comment on a thread of yours.

I've said sorry.
I explained I miss-understood your comments.
And now you say you will never comment on my threads again!
Gee thanks.
All 'cause I was tryinv to contribute to your site with a lite hearted thread and miss-understood your replies.
If you had just said I prefer the grey ones, without the film comments there would have been no miss-understanding. The comments about film in a thread that was clearly about in camera b&w is what confused me as to your and Atilla's comments about film. I thought you were having a slight go at me and possibly may have miss-understoody post.
I feel you are being overly harsh over a miss-understanding of sarcasm. Which btw, does not convey well in txt.

If that is truly how you feel. A founding member of this site never wanting interact with me again.
I will leave then. Fir I do not want to be a member of a forum who does not want to even acknowledge my existence.
Once again Iam sorry I miss understood you...Iam sorry I even made this post.
