I started SLR-shooting with a Ricoh KR-10x in 1990.
Now a K-mount camera is back here again!

Dieter (fotomachi) sold it to me and now I have a genuine DSLR body to use my SMC-M 2.8/28, SMC-M 1.7/50 and the Rikenon 35-70 on.
Plus all the M42 lenses because Dieter has included an M42-K-adapter! Thanks a lot!

The K100D is definitley the smallest DSLR I have but it feels so solid and the "Shake Reduction" mode can come in handy at times. Wink

Rumour has it that Sony cameras see a lens as 50mm if the body cannot read the information from the lens. This makes the anti shake system less effective if the lens is wider or narrower than 50mm. This is why a lot of people attach 3rd party chips to the Samyang 85/1.4 just as an example. I bet Pentax "Shake Reduction" works in the same way. Just FYI, I bet the camera is excellent but with old lenses the "Shake Reduction" might work less than optimally.

The K100D asks you what FL the lens has that you have mounted if it cannot define it on its own.

That is just perfect! I wish Sony would notice and learn...

Excellent camera !

My wife gave me this one in 2007 and re-started my photo hobby.

Very reliable and trouble free with MF lenses - no chips, no programming change needed.

Yep, it was also my first DSL-R cam few years ago, for sure a great little cam, congrats!

Call me crazy, but now I own (let me think...)

6 DSLRs (3x EOS, 1x Nikon, 1x Sigma, 1x Pentax)
2 NEX (3 & 7)
1 Sigma DP1s (with a big sensor)
1 Leica Digilux 2 (which is something in between a DSLR and a compact cam IMHO)
and about 20 compact digitalcams.

And that is only the collection of digital cams!

Shocked Shocked Shocked I am shocked about myself!

Oh boy, I was so glad to have reduced the number of lenses considerably, but have bought many new cameras!
Damn!

Anyway, it's fun to play with them and my kids are getting older, so they can be introduced to SLR-shooting in some time. Wink

I see you've already put the camera to use Laughing
Happy shooting!

congrats Carsten, I hope you will enjoy this camera!
I really loved the colors of my *istDs which uses the same 6MP CCD sensor and it made differences of colors rendered by different lenses much more apparent than my later cameras with CMOS sensors.

haha, that's funny, I had opted for a used *istDs instead of the K100D which I could have bought for the same price then, even though that had meant not having SR because I felt the K100D being too big and clumsy in comparison with the smaller *istDs which I found fitting my hand better too. Later I "upgraded" to a K-x which has an almost identical, somewhat smaller, the *istDs remains my "biggest" dSLR

Very Happy

Well, compare the K100D to an EOS 5D, 40D, Nikon D1 or Sigma SD9, even the 300D. Wink

The NEXes are of course much smaller. Laughing

Congrats, Carsten!
I got one of those and it was really nice. Later on I swapped it by a K200D, those small DSLRs are great.
You can also use all of your Tamrons Adaptall with the PKA Adaptall adapter

I laughed until I realised I too have my own 'flock'..

1 Olympus E-10

1 Olympus E-1

I Canon 400D

1 Nikon D2X

1 Nikon D1X

1 Pentax *iSD

1 Pentax K10D

1 Panasonic L-1

and a pseudo DSLR the 'EVIL' Panasonic G2..

then there are the dozens of film cameras, two dozen compact digitals up to a Canon G7 and.. 200+ lenses

Arghhhh! lol

See? How quickly that happens. Wink

and a note Carsten: I believe that you are well advised to use RAW only. At least with my *istDs it is a must, the jpegs are simply not good. That may have improved with the K100D, but even with the K-x I soon stuck with RAWs only

Dang! Laughing
With my 3 DSLR and 1 DRF, I thought I was a bit overequipped, but I'm lagging behind lightyears Laughing

Orio, if we add together the value of the items, you are way in front of me. Wink

I am almost certain that this is only a rumor—never seen any indication why this would be true.

Smallest than EOS 350D ?
Congratulations for the Pentax ! The stabilised sensor is a thing that I like for MF
