Developed the FP4 in Paterson FX-39, 1:9, 8mins, 20C. Discovered the hood I used on the Primagon was a bit too deep and caused vignetting so had to crop these and a lot of the shots were useless. No PP on these apart from a boost in contrast:

A pity for the vignette, but I find the tonal results very pleasing and the details rich and lively.

Cheers Orio. The FP4 definitely works better in the Paterson FX-39 than it does in Rodinal. Today I'm going to try a roll of C-41 in the FX-39. I've run out of 35mm BW and waiting for my Fomapan 100 and TMAX 100 to arrive. Got a Zenit 412 with Zenitar-M2S to test.

I love B&W shots of subjects like these, where texture and mood are emphasised. I wonder if that Cortina is a doer-upper? Laughing

I think it can probably be revived, didn't look too rotten, horriffic bright purple/pink paint job on it though.

Thank God for B&W, then. Very Happy

Oh yes, I cringed when I saw it, shocking pink like a tart's nailvarnish...

To me, a Cortina like that shout be cream and green with a Lotus badge Wink

Yeah, that's a nice dev, the Paterson. How can you manage to shoot with such a slow, crappy
lens? Laughing J/K, the Primadonnagon worked very well in these. Wink Cool

Oh I love the Primagon, I tried many 35mm lenses and even though it's only 4.5 the Primagon was better than nearly all the others. On the NEX it's flippin awesome.

I also have the matching Primotar 3.5/50 which is equally good, the old silver Meyers are much better than the later ones, I think the GDR gave priority to Zeiss from the late 60s on so Meyer/Pentacon had to make do with the leftovers in terms of materials etc.

Really love the comps and lighting in 2 and 3. Will be looking for the Primagon, and yes, one of my
absolute fave 50's:

The camera this was stuck on went for so cheap, the lens was like a body cap.

those are some fine BW "prints." but - and i'm a BW guy - i might like the color rendering even more; very impressionistic palette ...

I have exactly the same camera/lens combo as that one Bill. I also have an M42 Primotar as well.

Cheers Fish, I was lucky that day, the light was just perfect and no wind so the water was still and reflective.

The 2nd shot in the cars series is very nice. Love the look of the cars

Cheers, I'm just glad I managed to save the shots despite the vignette problem.
