Body was bought recently from eBay for about $20 total. Described as "parts only."
Arrived in near-mint condition. The only thing wrong was a roll of film inside in need of rewinding -- everything works!
The lens came from a recent flea market sale for about $15 and is worn but works fine and is optically clean.
I am pleasantly surprised with this very nice camera -- the last of the SL-series and completely different from the earlier SLs. Electronic metal blade shutter with speeds of 1/1000 to 16 seconds and 1/125 flash sync. Metered Manual or Aperture Priority Auto exposure modes. Aperture and shutter speed visible in finder. Diagonal split image focusing aid. Accepts conventional cable releases. Accepts 2 motor drive accessories. This camera also has a very quiet shutter -- one of the quietest SLRs I've handled.
The body also came with a sliding viewfinder black-out accessory for tripod use which would probably sell for $20 by itself!
The lens I have for it is older and has the first version of the QBM mount without aperture simulation so must be used in stop-down mode with this camera which normally uses the 2nd version of the mount. Not a big deal but I'm now looking for a deal on a later version lens for it. |

the only issue that I've encountered with the 35sl is advancing the film. The sprocket notches tend to jump out of the film holes. So, as a solution, when loading, I secure the leader with a small piece of tape to the tale-up roll. So far, no problems. When rewinding, it's easy to tell when one gets to that last (the first edge) of film. The tape usually stays connected to the roller and not the film, but I don't imagine a problem if it did stay connected to the film.
BTW, excellent lens!!! _________________ Cameras; Sony Nex5n Lenses; Konica Hexanons; 21mm f2.8, 40mm f1,8, 50mm f1.4, 50mmf1.7,57mm f1.4, 100mm f2.8, 135mm f3.2, 200mm f4, MC Helios 77M-4 50mm f1.8, Jupiter 8 50 f2, Super Takumar 85mm f1.9, Vivitar Series 1 90mm f2.5 (Macro), Steinheil Munchen Culminar 85mm f2.8, Steinheil Munchen Exagon 35mm f2.8, Jupiter 37A 135mm, Astra Berlin 135mm f3.5, Angenieux 180mm f4 , Tair 3-PhS 300mm f4.5 |
