Really excellent indeed, little difference to the 1950s Opton one I had for a while.
A little surprising for such an old lens, but fits with the other early Contax I've seen.
When the Leica came out, Zeiss were not pleased, so they decided to produce something to blow it away and we got the Contax.
So it shows that the best Zeiss could do in the late 20s is still stunning today. _________________ I don't care who designed it, who made it or what country it comes from - I just enjoy using it! |

The Sonnar 4/135 is one of the most successful lens designs ever.
Words not by me, I read it on a magazine time ago.
And I agree, the design crossed half a century untouched, from the pre-war Contax to the late Contarex and the Jena aluminium version.
It's been probably the less modified lens design to go through such long time unchanged. Even the Olympia Sonnar 180mm was redesigned, while this lens was not.
The only significant difference between the pre-war version and the late Contarex or DDR Jena versions is the coating. _________________ Orio, Administrator
