First of all, sorry for my English.
Second: I'm looking for a 300 2.8 lens, and I was thinking about the Tamron adaptall 2 Sp 300 2.8 IF LD Or the sigma AIS.
But Can I use these lenses on my canon 400D?
And what are the disadventages of such a combination?
Thanks a lot,

Pieter-Jan

No disadvantage , but these lenses are so heavy and expensive. An SMC Takumar 300mm f4 just one stop slower and much convince to use and lot cheaper. You can also think about many 300mm f4.5 lens...

Does my body will choose the shutterspeed while I can choose the diafragm on the body of the lens?

The best bang for the bucks is still the Sonnar 4/300 for P6 IMHO.

I bought my Tamron SP 300/2.8 Adaptall II (type 60B) from Keh for $450. It should be possible to get one for less money if you are not in a hurry. The 300/2.8 is obviously not the same lens as a 300/4 or as the Tamron SP 300/5.6: it is big and heavy but delivers great images even wide open. It can deliver some great portraits with blurred background that would be impossible to get with an f/5.6 lens.

Cheers!

There's the Yashma 4N available new on ebay for around $600 - difficult to to find any real reviews of it. It's an APO lens and 2.8 300 made in Ukraine...
