This was taken by my mother in August 1972.
I only have a very small print, just a little larger than a contact print. In spite of that, I think the quality is amazing.
Unfortunately my mom did not keep the negatives.

Wow, that's you, Orio Smile

Amazing to see a picture from 40 years ago so well conserved. Most of my Kodak colour pictures taken during my Army service taken in 1973 are faint now... Not only the camera was fine, the developing was well done.

Regards.
Jes.

Thanks Jes. I had the scanner software to restore the colours. My actual print is more orange.
What I find remarkable is that even from a very small print, subtle things like the texture of my shirt are clearly discernible.
Also consider that in 1972 the films were not as high acutance as today.
So overall a very impressive result in my opinion. Such a pity that I don't have the negative anymore.

You don't look a day older (he lied) Cool

I think the picture goes to prove that photography was perfected to a high technical standard very many years ago.

Excellent from every aspects! I am curious what will we see on our digital images 50 yrs later , especially worry RAW files.

I think we'll be fine as long as there's an open source reader for your vendor's RAW files (DCRAW, UFRAW). Those guys have reverse-engineered and documented the various RAW formats and the source code is widely available, I think we'll be OK.

EDIT - this is precisely the reason I'm wary of those nifty Lytro light field cameras, the only software available to process/view the photos is tightly controlled by the vendor. Anyone want to bet those pictures are going to be viewable in 50 years?
