Hello All,
I just got my first MF lens today.. Very Happy ; a 50mm f1.7 Planar. Thanks to Orio and Attila for their advice.

I have one question. The lens looks to be in great shape, but the aperture ring make a "clicking" sound when going from 1.7 to 16 with my ear very close to the lens. There is zero clicks when moving in the other direction. Is this normal for this lens?

Thanks.

Thanks poilu. Its kind of late here today and very dark. Plan to head out tomorrow and take some pictures. In the mean time, are there any posts/advice on manual focussing techniques?

Do not wear your grandmother's reading eyeglasses when taking a photo Wink Laughing
Sorry I could not resist a little joke Smile

Use liveview if you have it, or get a manual focusing screen for your camera if available.

Ha ha.. Smile good one. Well, we had some good weather today and I tried taking some pics. I am still having some problems with focussing. The AF confirm seems to lock on for a large range; specially at some distance. Will try out the live view idea as well. Here is a picture I took today.
