Now that I'm using my FSU rangefinders more, I'm tempted by something wider than my 35mm J12. Anyone have opinions on this lens or anything as wide in similar price bracket?

Fantastic lens, heartily recommended!
I just used it at hyperfocal on the M9 and you really can not tell it apart from $$$ lenses:
