Hi Vlad,
Aperture 1.5, not 1.4.
I don't use LiveView , I'm focusing on green dot.
My model is old Helios 40 with m39 so I use M39-> Nikon adapter.
I don't use any hood but sometimes I use tripod when it necessary. _________________ Nikon D700

Pascal, thanks for your comment.
No, unfortunately just from 2 meters up to 7 meter.
I tried to use adaptor with small glass inside, I could focus to infinity but I didn't like the quality of photos.
Besides, I use Helios mainly for portraits, so inflinity function is not usefull for me. _________________ Nikon D700

I use an adapter with no glass too, i thinned it down a bit, 0.5 mm, it doesn t sound a lot but in terms of max focus distance it s more than a meter, or more. You don t need to thin it down all, just the inner radius part.

Yes, a picture is going to be better than my english , i used a Dremel tool, but with a lathe it can be done much better. If you look at the adapter from side, when it s mounted on the lens, you ll see a gap between it and the lens, to reduce it thin the adapter, if you examine it better, you ll see that only a part of the adapter makes contact with the lens. It s enought to thin, shave, that part only.

I hope this helps.
