Looking at the samples I strongly disagree.
The canon is much sharper, more saturation and without CA. Unless these are qualities you'd rather avoid I don't see how the J21 gives better results.
I like Russian lenses, so I'm not out to put them down. As I said, it's not a fair fight when you consider the price difference. _________________ Casual attendance these days |

If nothing is in focus then either the shutter speed is too low or the lens is soft wide open. One problem I've found is that my adapters allow the lens to focus past infinity. If you have this problem too and you have set your lens then this may be the reason that nothing is in focus.
If you prefer the J21 then that's what counts for you. _________________ Casual attendance these days |

today a woman that she works in a photographic lab saw these pictures:
http://www.flickr.com/photos/33530174@N05/4991229370/
http://www.flickr.com/photos/33530174@N05/4991224418/
and this is what she thinks
the two lenses are very close ... but the jupiter-21m has more contrast
but again ... I am not the person that have made this test so probably there is a little of wrong focus in the shot taken with jupiter-21m at @4.
but I use in general the j21 at @11 @8...because I want DOF _________________
