If it starts with an 8 (which it looks like it does) then it is probably an MM Smile

I just didn't want to get in trouble if he bought it and it turned out to be AE Laughing

If the first two numbers are 64xxxxx then you have, like, 80% chances of it being an AE.

This is the serial number:

Unfortunately the Thiele book does not report the production year for that lot.

OK, OK. My 65xxxxx serial Planar 50/1.7 is AE while my 68xxxxx is MM. Hopefully that helps you Smile

But the color of the last number of the aperture ring is a guarantee? If it's green is a MM?
Thanks.

If green f22 = 100% MM

Unless someone painted the white number green. Wink The 50/1.7 doesn't go to f/22 but to f/16, by the way.
I would say that the most reliable proof of a lens being MM is the presence of the MM tab on the mount of the lens.
