Got a sweet deal on this setup. It also came with a 50/1.4 and 35/2.8. This should keep me busy for a while

Everything is great, but the 3.5/100 is a winner (and quite rare!) _________________ Orio, Administrator

Nice set you got there.
What are the qualities of the Sonnar 100 - I never tried one of these. |

It is extremely sharp and it does not change from wide open to stopped down. All apertures offer the same insane sharpness - only the DOF changes. _________________ Orio, Administrator

I've read about the Sonnar 100 sharpness and that is one of the reasons I was so thrilled to find it. I'm looking forward to giving it the true test on my next hiking trip. I'm interested to see how its micro contrast and sharpness hold up to the planar 85. _________________ 500D / SPII / FTn / Contax D / 137MA / Contaflex

Sounds like a promising lens and it looks not that big. I might go on lookout since my options in this region are quite big.
Two more quesions:
Does the lens have 55mm filter thread and what is the minimum focusing distance? |

Yes a 55mm thread and the minimum focus is 1 meter. It is very light weight at 285g (10oz). _________________ 500D / SPII / FTn / Contax D / 137MA / Contaflex

Congrats, Nate, you gotta be tickled pink about the Sonnar 100! I have
the Contax 137MA, too, but mine has the leather peeled off revealing a
blue-grey denim-like material. I've been using an M42>C/Y adapter with
one of my Super Takumars, the 3.5/135:
some samples from above using old formula TMAX 400 (exp 1991) in
Diafine 4+4, 23C, metered @ISO 500:
all at f3.5
Looking forward to seeing your results with the Sonnar! |

Thanks, Orio, not familiar with that TV serial (?) will have to check
it out. I'm slowly going through equipment I want to keep, and selling
off items I don't. The Contax and Super Taks are definite keepers. |
