Never heard/read about it. Seems a bit pricey, though. Any opinions? _________________ Markku

It's being mostly sold as Soligor (possibly C/D). It's good lens with useful F2.0. M42 is rare. 2/28mm version also exists. _________________ ---------------------------------

I do love RMC Tokina lenses though, and they are not even Tokina's top of the line lens. I have 3, an RMC Tokina 28mm 2.8, an RMC Tokina 35-70mm 3.5 (with close focus feature); and an RMC Tokina 80-200mm 4.5.
I really like the zooms and absolutely adore the 28mm prime. It is sharp from wide open, focuses quite closely, has good contrast, and the colour straight out of the camera is just beautiful. I was never a wide angle shooter but this is perhaps my favourite lens now.
I only paid $20, inlcuding shipping, for the 28mm and no more than $30ish for the other two. All are in M42 mount. I also have a Vivitar 35mm 2.8 that is by Tokina that I have been impressed with, and which got me started searching for Tokina lenses. It was $20 plus shipping.
I have seen images taken with the RMC Tokina 35mm f/2 and thought they seemed to be in line with what I found with my Tokinas, sharp and good colour. Although you never know how much processing has been done or how consistent the quality really is. I would certainly try one if the price was right though.
Again, I'm not sure what that auction price converts to so I can't comment on the value. _________________ Canon 50D; CZJ Sonnar 135mm 3.5; SMC Takumar 55mm 1.8; Helios 44-2 58mm 2; Jupiter 37-A 135mm 3.5; Jupiter 11A 135mm 4; Pentacon 135mm 2.8; Nikkor-P 105mm 2.5;(Tokina) Vivitar 35mm 2.8; Tokina RMC 28mm 2.8; Vivitar 19mm 3.8; RMC Tokina 80-200mm 4.5; RMC Tokina 35-70mm 3.5; Panagor 90mm 2.8; Asahi Pentax extension tubes; 2xAuto Prinz teleconverter M42 |

How sad is it that I don't even know what that means? I'm not very computer literate, lol.
I don't really know whether you'd even see a big difference between f/2 and f/2.8 at 35mm. I find that it's not as noticeable with a wider lens as it is with a telephoto. And there are lots of 35mm 2.8s available inexpensively. _________________ Canon 50D; CZJ Sonnar 135mm 3.5; SMC Takumar 55mm 1.8; Helios 44-2 58mm 2; Jupiter 37-A 135mm 3.5; Jupiter 11A 135mm 4; Pentacon 135mm 2.8; Nikkor-P 105mm 2.5;(Tokina) Vivitar 35mm 2.8; Tokina RMC 28mm 2.8; Vivitar 19mm 3.8; RMC Tokina 80-200mm 4.5; RMC Tokina 35-70mm 3.5; Panagor 90mm 2.8; Asahi Pentax extension tubes; 2xAuto Prinz teleconverter M42 |

ANd there are other and probably better 2/35s for much less than that, for example S-M-C Takumar, Mir-24M or N and I think there's a Nikon. _________________ Peter - Moderator |

The Panagor (Kiron/Kino) 2/35 is commonly seen on ebay for less than 50ukp and it is superb, I got a mint one in leather case for 35ukp that I use with my NEX a lot.

In a crop sensor this 30ish mm focal length is a bit confusing I mean.. going for the cheapest the best you can get in a wide angle is 24mm, anything wider is exponentially more expensive. 35 is so close to 28 that I can't see to find a good justification for it, that is also why I am a bit skeptical about a lens I am yet to test, I hope it is as good as they say or it will be in the marketplace real soon. _________________ Body: Fujifilm X-E1

A 35mm makes sense if you already have a 24mm lens. A 24 and a 28 are too close. If you only want one lens, then go for either a 24 or a 28, that's right. _________________ Personal forum activity on pause every now and again (due to job obligations)!
