Here's some snaps from New York, all taken on my Canon EOS 5D. Many of the night shots were taken at ISO 1600 wide open, so not the sharpest shots ever, but hopefully you'll get some atmosphere from the shots Smile

Thanks Attila, I was trying to get lots of landscape shots in as I normally prefer street shooting. I've just added some black and white street shots which are more my thing Smile

Great series!
It felt like being there!

Your Contax lenses, guided by your hand, did a terrific job in NYC... the 100-300, the 35-70... especially the 1.4/50 Planar.
The comparison of the night photos taken with the 1.4/50 Planar with that night photo by the Samyang lens is really unmerciful for the Sam.
I mean it's surely an excellent lens value for the price, but all the sparkle and life of the Contax images is just not there, unfortunately.
I often tell people "use fast lenses in the night because that's what they're meant for". Instead a lot of people use fast lenses in full sunlight for bokeh effect.
Well, this series of yours shows what the 1.4/50 Planar does when it plays home: in the night!
And I mean it's not just because of the f/1.4... it's the whole lens design that is structured to shine in the night situations, even when you stop down.
The perfect night lens.

Many thanks for the kind comments Orio Smile I totally agree about the Contax lenses, which is why I decided to stuff my bag full of them and risk back injuries! Laughing The Planar is simply outstanding at any time of the day, but come night time the lens is just brilliant. This would be the lens I would keep if I were only allowed one.

I'm already looking forward to processing the Las Vegas shots Wink

In your hands the FF Canon is something else, and I suppose those lenses don't hurt either Wink Fantastic series!

Great job indeed!
Some amazing shots you show us here.

My fav (which is hard to tell because there are so many very good ones) is the Statue of Liberty.

Absolutely fan-bloody-tastic Very Happy

Superb set, I loved them all Cool

But number two, for me, was a real jaw-dropper Shocked Amazing how the building fade away into the sky. What are the chances of ever getting that shot again Shocked

Awesome, truly awesome Cool

Truly evocative series of the town I worked in for 20 years. You even have my old office building (well one of them anyway).
