Just had to start experimenting. Radionar 105/4.5 on 350D, 4s exposure, handheld, standing without support. Got quite positive reception on G+.

I like the geisha!
Do you follow a pattern with your hand's movements, or you just let it happen?

Considering the size of the 350D sensor and the focal length of the lens, there is no way of trying to follow a pattern and preserve any kind of coherence in the picture. You just must let it happen but in a controlled way, not too freely and not too rigidly, allowing just a slight tremor with not too many larger swipes during the long seconds.
