On my Helios there's the Auto Manual Switch: should I notice some difference on the 7D or it's simply useless?

You will need to switch to M on the lens. If not the aperture will always be wide open on your 7D no matter which aperture setting you choose from the lens.

I can change aperture no matter if the switch is on A or M.

Then you must be using a flanged adapter that presses the aperture pin.

Right. So, if I would use the other adapter without the inner flange, theoretically the A/M switch should let me to change aperture as I'm doing now with the flanged adapter?
