Hi,

tomorrow I will get this lens from one of my dear dealers. It is in like unused condition, a real collector item and therefore unfortunately not a bargain.
But I decided to buy this copy because I´m looking so long for an excellent version.

Tomorrow few sample shots with this lens.

Thanks Attila. I decided to go for an Ai version because Nikon changed the rotation which is shorter with the AIS version. Due to the low DOF wide open I hope a longer rotation would be helpful to get the right focus. We will see.

It wasn't hard to catch right focus, I not expect any problem.

Why do you buy a collectors item, if you could buy a new one? They are still being produced.

Good question ! New price here 698,00 €. If I would pay the price some ebay seller try to get (between 500 to 600 €) for a used item you are right. Paid less 50 % of a new one. So that is ok. Not a bargain but for the excellent condition a fair price.

Oh I see, I thought "collectors item" meant it was even more expensive. Along the lines of a low serial number, etc.

f1.2 lenses are great. I was after the 50mm f1.2 as well, but then defaulted to the much cheaper 55er.

Show us some nice pictures Smile

I confirm that : this is a fantastic lens, but it is still expensive , about 400€ for a decent copy; wide open it is great, and the background is magically blurred that's for sure ! : )

i have no troubles with focusing with the D700, even if it's sometimes tricky, but hey ...

in low light it shines. the fastest lens among many and it beats some in terms of max aperture, not bad for an "oldie" . mine is ais and i had it almost new for about 350$ shipped Cool
