Despite Canon FD's mount incompatibility with the modern EF/S, would you guys say that, for purely macro work, would be possible to use one of these with a simple FD adapter, the ones which don't have glass elements?

Yes and no. Yes it will work great, but it limits the size of the items you are trying to macro.

Didn't used it yet so much , I'll do it when I'll return from my holiday. I think it needs a ring for 1:1 I'll buy one
The EVIL cameras are great for the FD Lenses

For 1:1 you need a 25mm tube but the working distance is greatly reduced so I use a 15mm one instead. The 25mm sits in the cupboard.
