I think I'm turning into a one-lens kinda guy Shocked Shocked

I came across these poppies in a wheat field, not whole seas of them just one or two here and there, and all several metres into the crop - so I've had to do some cropping of my own - and it was blowing, oh gusting force 4 so they were dancing about in a most teasing manner.
Anyway, here are some, looking quite surreal.

Oh, and my grandson is staying this week so guess what the next subject's going to be?

Third one is almost spot on composition-wise.

Not really that convincing for me to be honest. Lacks contrast (sunshade used?) overall and micro-contrast as well as sharpness. Of all, #2 woudl be it...sorry.

That's fair enough. Fiddly enough conditions and I expected them all to be rejects, as it is I'm gauging opinion so that I can learn something from the experience. I was swaying in the breeze, the camera was swaying in the breeze, the poppy petals were simply joining in. As to contrast - no sunshade used, just a lens hood, and these are the very dry conditions we'vec been experiencing. Not much contrast to get hold of and I decided they weren't worth spending much time on in pp.

This is how the field looks and it'll be a wonder if the poor crop doesn't get ploughed in.

This was the first shot which certainly came out looking very strange!!

I like the impressionistic feeling and the muted tones. #3 is my favourite. I would crop the treeline from the last pic, probably.

I personally love #4 the best, and i really like the "first shot" that you posted later (shall i call it #6?). I really like the rendering of this lens. It's much more painterly than most lenses now-a-days.

I like the vintage glowy / painterly look to them Smile

If they're worth sharing, and they are, they're worth post processing time. I suspect they can be improved with some PP contrast.
