Not really a review, just bunch of photos and impression as usual.
I am too lazy to write up an official review nor have ability to do so.
I bought this Exakta->EF mount adapter to use my Biotar 58/2. Its construction is
lot more like C/Y->EF mount adapter, you have to take out a whole thing to change
a lens. By the way I took "aperture button" which hits EOS' penta-head and also
bottom of the aperture button prevents from mounting the lens to adapter.
Otherwise it has no problem, is allows to focus infinity.

Biota 58/2, semi-auto aperture button is removed

Wide open to f4, my Biotar has weak corners. I did not notice until I use
the lens with a digital slr.

thanks for the review.
PS ... this mount ... it looks more like the C/Y to EOS mount. I thought that the Exakta mount had a little lip? |

More great information Koji - I'm considering the purchase of a "bokehmonster" 135 and they seem to be cheaper in Exakta mount than M42.
This adapter looks remarkably like my Pentax-M to EOS model...moreso than the adapter in your other thread

Exakta/Topcon's flange distance is 44.7mm, whereas EOS's is 44.0mm.
So there is only 0.7mm difference, so your adapter cannot maintain
infinity focus I think.
Mine can achieve an infinity focus, since the base metal is very thin
so that maintaining the strength as an adapter must be a bit tough.
This adapter is what I was looking for my Exakta mount Biotar 58/2. _________________ Our Home Page has 18,200 photos in 575 directories today.

HK300, your adapter is for 4/3 Olympus, looks like and should achieve
infinity focus on Oly DSLR as register distance is 33-34 thereabouts.
That's why your adapter is so thick. |

HK, has your supplier come up with a new adapter? I'm looking for one for my 90mm Angineux and 50mm Schneider. _________________ Skip M

Dear Koji,
Can your adapter lock the lens in place ? I can't figure out how this is possible from your photos, except may be with lock screw.
I am look for one to use with my Topcon 58mm F1.4. The adapter I bought at a local camera repair shop has thickness 1mm , so no infinity, and it was very loose and couldn't hold optical alignment. I am buying another one from Camplus on ebay with Af confirm. I hope this one will be accurate. |

I suspect that quite a lot of us are waiting on tenterhooks for this adapter. There has been quite a lot of upward movement in Topcon lens prices in recent months...

I have a Flek in Exakta with the autoarm thingy. My thingy has a lock position enabling the lens to be used with manual aperture. The thingy would foul my EOS body but, because you don't care about infinity, you could mount it on a short Exakta extension tube. These seem to come up frequently (and inexpensively) on ebay. |
