Velvia - Yashica Mat - Spring Under Log

Well, since Spring is actually beginning to take hold, here's a little
intimate look at the foaming water under a log in the rain forest.
Nothing to shout about, simply a reminder that the explosion of
green will be coming soon!

I basically tried to match the saturation with what I saw. Believe it
or not, I don't think I overdid the saturation; that is just about how
intense the color was. Shocked

Under the Log
Yashica Mat
f:11 and 1 sec
Velvia 50

Gorgeous vibrant greens! Did you meter this at 50? I'm thinking of posting
some pics from expired Velvia 50 shot @40 to balance the load here. Wink

I didn't have a meter with me, so I can't be exact. However, I usually use
the Sunny 16 method with the ISO estimate at 50. I had written down
the exposure and shutter speed, and that was in the slide sleeve with
the transparency itself.

I think it's a good idea to go with 40 with the expired film; you'll probably
catch any vibrant colors that are "true to the scene". I am anxious to see
them!

Your Yashica Mat photos always have something special for me, Larry.

Agree, though I like his Pentax 645 work as well, there is indeed something
special with his Yashica-Mat work.

Thanks guys! I too, have a bond with the Yashica, since it was my
grandfather's camera. Perhaps that makes me think differently about
an image? I don't know, but could be...

Whoa! I came back to this house with a different monitor, and the image
looks like it underwent some kind of infrared conversion! Shocked Just
goes to show the difference when a monitor (this one) isn't calibrated.

Another beautiful shot from you. Had it just rained or are the leaves always wet looking from the dampness?

Such a beauty!

Well done, Larry.

Thanks for sharing that beauty.

I like ti very much.

The composition is very nice, simple, fine picture.

The green is a fuji tipical rendering with Velvia at EI 50. Some people like to use EI 40 for less saturated colors. I like your EI 50 option.

You chose very well the aperture. The F/ 11 is the better aperture in yashinon and in yashikor lenses, like in almost all tessars and triplets.

Regards. Share more pics please.

Rino.

Walmart. Shocked

Seriously! Walmart will send to Fujifilm in California, and the processing
is high quality. It's usually $5.44 for a roll of 120, and $6.80 for a roll of
220.

Don't let them tell you they can't process it. Just take one of the regular
processing envelopes, throw the roll in, and drop in the box. It will
automatically be sent to Fuji. Cool

Turnaround for me is almost always 7 working days.

Hope this helps.

Larry

I've gotten it back in 10 days, but mostly it takes a full fortnight, but since
it's so cheap, is worth the wait.
