I don't love the expression on the child's face but the DOF worked really well. Very moody.

on contrary, the expression is gorgeous. it is not another boring photo of smiling child. this picture says something more. something you can start thinking of. and that is reason why i like this photo. author has even luck of good background which makes bokeh even better than usual. for me it is in total excellent capture. congratulations.

I find the bokeh quite distracting, it keeps dragging my eye from the subject.

It's an "artsy" picture, and in that regard it does very well. Good work.

Really? You kiddin? Did it glow in the dark?

Was this a 35mm lens please or 645 MF?

100% 35mm, or did you saw some F1.4 for 645 anywhere? Radioactive is thanks to thorium.

Also that's a pretty funky bokeh. I guess it could be used "creatively" but it doesn't seem suited for portraiture.

PS: Radioactive lenses won't hurt you unless you wear them 24/7 in your jock-strap for a number of years - or unless you swallow them Very Happy (Honest!)

Since all the nuke testing (thousands!!!), WWII, Chernobyl, Fukushima, and others, you actually receive about 10x the daily dose of radiation than sleeping with a pile of these lenses would induce. Prior to WWII this was not the case however and BG radiation was zero in most places around the world! (these are the facts. unfortunately!)

Well I was presuming 35mm. If there is a 1.4 lens for 645 I'm sure I couldn't afford it!

Yes, 35mm.
