I sell one of my two Hollywood Distagon 2/28
It is the very same lens that I used in Como a few days ago (see Lake Como series in the Oversized Gallery). I also used this one in other series in the past, like in the Lucca series.
The lens is used with some wear, but functionally it delivers perfect results, as you can see from the aforementioned images.
There is paint loss on the barrel, some pin-point marks on the front glass, near the edge (I count 6 of them), two pin-point marks on the rear glass also, near the centre.
These do not cause any consequence on the images. I can shoot this lens i any condition including strong backlight, and always obtain perfect images.

Because of the wear, however, I sell the lens for 500 Euros only. Normally this lens is sold from 600-650 to 900 Euros today. Some sellers are already trying to sell it for more than 1000.

It may be worth to remind that this is an historical lens, designed by mythical Dr. Glatzel, and that the new Z version for sale at Zeiss (for 1149 Euros + VAT) had the design modified - so if you want the real Hollywood lens, it's the Contax that you should buy.

I add image samples here because stupid marketplace image manager crops them automatically or makes them minuscule.
The following images have been obtained with the very same lens that is for sale:

€500.00 for this lens is a fantastic price - somebody should snap it up.

They're getting more rare, and sellers are now asking for ridiculous amounts of money as per Orio's post above, it's fair to say we may never see one at such a fair price again.

Orio, which model is this lens? AE or MM? As a Zeiss fan like you which flavour do you prefer?

In many years, I never personally saw an MM version of this lens. I read reports that they exist, but they must be quite rare.
Both my copies of this lens are AE made in West Germany, and I have a hard time believing that the MM copies might be any better than what my lenses are. Smile

Any 5D MKII mirror issues with this lens?

oops, I see it gets the "iffy" rating

It doesn't clear the 5D mirror at infinity. Mirror is cleared until 5-7 meters distance depending on the adapter's thickness.
To use it at infinity, you can do one of these three things:

a) Shave the mirror

b) lock the mirror up

c) use liveview (like I did at the lake)

Of course no problem with crop-format cameras, and neither with the mirrorless cameras.

I see,
For me its a major issue with AE lenses because of the "ninja star" blades.
That's why I prefer MM's

I have taken hundreds of photos with the Hollywoods and I can not remember one where the shape of the blades were a problem, even minimally.
In fact, the lens renders so gorgeously that I would not have noticed a ninja star even if I had one stamped on my face Laughing
