I have a non-EBC 55/1.8 which I don't use much as I have better lenses in the same focal length, and a non-EBC 100/2.8 which I absolutely love. I have posted pictures shot with it in the past, I kept it and sold the Tamron 105/2.5 and Pentacon 100/2.8 as the Fujinon is better.
I just bought another 100/2.8 but with EBC coating for cheap on ebay, less than 30€, as it has slight fungus on the front element. If it's cleanable it will be quite a find.
Edit: I forgot I also have the 200/4.5 EBC, I have posted pics in the past here and it's a pretty good lens, but it's a focal range I don't use much.
How are your 1,4/50 EBC and 2,5/135 EBC?
I forgot to say that I quite like Fujinon lenses, but unfortunately they are usually more expensive than the equivalent Takumars. _________________ My galleries

It used to be the other way around. I always liked the performance of the fujinons more. Better colors overall. The takumars are better constructed though at least in my opinion. |

The Fujinon line is my favourite from all M42 lenses. I even created a flickr group dedicated to M42 Fujinon lenses… The ones I currently have are:

35mm f/3.5 Fujinon-W
35mm f/2.8 EBC Fujinon-W
50mm f/1.4 EBC Fujinon (+ a non-EBC version of the same)
55mm f/1.8 EBC Fujinon
55mm f/1.6 Fujinon
100mm f/2.8 EBC Fujinon-T
135mm f/2.5 EBC Fujinon-T (×2, but will sell one)
135mm f/3.5 EBC Fujinon-T
200mm f/4.5 EBC Fujinon-T (×2, but will sell one)
400mm f/4.5 EBC Fujinon-T
54-270mm f/4.5 EBC Fujinon-Z
Additionally I have a 50mm f/1.6 and a Fujinar 135mm f/2.8 in X-mount, but I haven't tried them due to lack of proper camera on which they could be easily used. (Anybody know if the Fujinar is a Fuji design or a rebranded lens by someone else?) |

Hi,
I have an EBC 28/3.5 (great sharpness), two EBC 135/2.5 (great bokeh) and an EBC 55/3.5 Macro (great colors).
Excellent build quality (full metal barrels as with the Takumars, the 135/2.5 original cap is a screw-in metal one), outstanding IQ (at least on APS-C; will test soon on an FF camera ) ...
Moreover, they are often underrated by sellers (got the 28/3.5 and the 55/3.5 Macro at 15 euros/each, and one of the two 135/2.5 at 30 euros).
Sample with the 55/3.5:
Stepping out with a Fujinon - IMGP4400 by indianadinos, on Flickr
And with the 135/2.5 wide open:
EBC Fujinon-T 135 2.5 - IMGP7851 by indianadinos, on Flickr
So, if you find one of those, grab it as fast as you can ...

What a lovely sky in the last pic !
I didn't notice any issue with the A/M switch.
So, I think this is because I use an adapter ring which has a flange.
This flange pushes the pin and so you are able to open and close the diaph. _________________ Olivier - Moderator

I have three zooms form the Fujinon lineup:

The first two have very nice, natural looking colours rendition; and stopped down a bit are also very sharp but with a little lack of contrast.
The third and biggest one shares the same natural colours of the others two, but at full aperture sharpness is not constant through the various focal lenghts. _________________ Gaetano |

Mine is non-EBC 55/1.8, too, and slow. I shall use it next time. Thanks for inspiration. _________________

How are your 1,4/50 EBC and 2,5/135 EBC? |
I used them in film cams.
The EBC 1,4/50 is very good, but not equal IQ to S-M-C 1,4/50. At least in my taste.
The SMC is more contrast and better bokeh. Very different lenses.
I didn't like the 2,5/135. Nice bokeh, yes, but something unsharp.
The best EBC that I had/have, the 1,8/55. Something warm, but a very good lens.
I'm not convinced to buy the 4,5/200. It's so slow. Ijust have the chinon3,5/200 and it's a stop faster. _________________ Konica 2,8/100

There are some fujinon lenses marked DM on the front of the lens and not EBC , but they appear as EBC coated on : http://www.pentax-manuals.com/fujica/lenses/bay_lenses.htm which listes the X-mount lenses .
I have ordered a Fujinon 50mm 1.6 in X-mount : http://www.pentax-manuals.com/fujica/lenses/x_50d16.htm
On the other hand , the fujinon M42 are marked EBC on the front of the lens http://pentax-manuals.com/fujica/lenses/m42_lenses.htm
Do you know what's about the DM marking ? |
