Since this is the Digital Gallery, and the Epson scanner is digital with a
CCD, I am showing a fun little scan. Sometimes it's a kick to just scan
found objects around the yard. Very Happy

No Photoshopping here, just did a quick 400dpi scan of the branch
from from a Dwarf Japanes Maple. I could certainly clean up the
shadows and other aberrations, but this is just for fun. I tried colored
papers for backgrounds, but a warm white paper turned out to be the
best for this particular scan.

I'm familiar with the subject Larry - I must have scanned literally thousands of leaves in the last 10 years! Laughing

Nice colour work Smile Maybe I would neutralize the cyan shadow though.

Shocked That is something I did not know scanners could do!...I knew about hands and Butt (bottom) scans but not actual useful scans of everyday objects!
Thanks for sharing Larry. Very Happy
I like the red fringe it sort of defines the whole twig. The orange border just matches perfectly.

I can only IMAGINE how many leaves you scanned over the years,
Orio! Shocked

Yeah, I would definitely clean up the shadows and other problems if I
was going to print something like this.

Thanks mo! The red fringes are actually there on the original leaves! The
underside reds actually wrap around a little, which is pretty cool. Cool

Lovely image.

One of the facets of my job is that I work a great deal with ancient (mainly Roman) coins. Numismatists have largely given up on having photographs taken of coins for publications, they now simply scan the objects directly. It is quick, easy, gives good results and many coins can be scanned all at once to a suitable resolution for publication at 1:1.

A bit off topic I know, but I thought it was interesting!

K.
